Homework #4: MISB-500-01 Fall 2000

50 points, due 10/10/2000 by classtime.

You are starting a small business called "Spread the Light" at a flea market. You have decided to sell candles. You have bought various amounts of a variety of candles (see below), but you haven't paid attention to the overall totals. Create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that looks like this:

  1. In cell D5, use a function to show the amount invested in boxed candles.
  2. Copy the formula down column D.
  3. In cell F5, write a formula to calculate the percentage markup on boxed candles. Don't forget to format the result as a percent.
  4. Copy the formula down column F.
  5. Use a function to show the average markup on all the products.
  6. Forumat rows 1 through 4 to resemble those in the table above.
  7. Format the numbers appropriately (if dollar amounts, format them in dollars, i.e. $ 4.05).
  8. Save the file as your last name.xls (EX: Smith.xls)
  9. Print out the worksheet to fit on one page, landscape orientation.
  10. Print the formulas with the row and column headings.

Use the Microsoft Excel section of your Quick Easy Microsoft Office 2000 book for tips on how to do each of these tasks.

Send an email to booka@slu.edu with the Excel file attached by October 10th at classtime. Turn in printouts of the worksheet at classtime on October 10th.
