(adapted from iupui.edu)

You are going to use Access 2000 to store and retrieve data about the CDs in your music collection. You MUST use Access 2000 to do this assignment. The program is installed on the computers in the Davis-Shaughnessy lab (rm. 473).

1. Create a new database by opening MS Access, and clicking "Blank Access database".

Save the database file on a diskette as (yourname).mdb where (yourname) is your first and last names together.

Create a new table and call it "(your name)'s music collection".

Please include the following for 15 albums:

  1. Title
  2. Artist
  3. Type of artist: solo act or group
  4. Recording Label
  5. # of tracks
  6. Type of music (rock, rap, country, new age, etc.)

2. Run queries on the following:
All artists that are solo acts (example: Elvis Presley). Name this query "solos".
All titles that have exactly 10 tracks. Name this query "10tracks".
All artists that are some particular (your choice) type of music. Name this query "music type"

3. Print a report of the table's data. Include only the following fields: Title, Artist, Type of music.

4. Save the database file after making the changes. Turn in the diskette and a printed copy of the report. Label the diskette and the printout with your name.
